Approach to Cloud Computing
The Government recognises that Cloud Computing offers the potential for considerable efficiencies and cost reductions.  Accordingly, it has approved this Cloud Computing Strategy for the Public Service, which, while recognising that considerable challenges remain, places Cloud Computing at the heart of the ICT Strategy for the public service.  It sets out a range of measures it wishes to implement over time, including an ambitious programme of data and computer centre consolidation, and it details how it wishes to engage with the private sector in progressing these.  It highlights how the implementation of these measures is critically dependent on the purposes of ICT in the public service being fulfilled, the security and data protection obligations of public service bodies being satisfied, and tangible cost reductions being demonstrably achievable.

Approach to eGovernment
eGovernment 2012-2015, approved by the Government and published in April 2012, contains 44 actions across eight key priority areas to ensure that the progress already achieved will continue and that Ireland will be in a position to benefit from the opportunities offered by existing and emerging technologies.
